Every year for Easter my daughter and I make raw chocolate treats for ourselves and to give away as gifts to friends and family members. I have used a chocolate bar mould for this recipe but we also love to make individual Easter inspired chocolates for Easter.
Making your own homemade raw chocolate is so simple and makes for a lovely healthy treat for Easter and also throughout year. I love that by using just a few wholesome ingredients you can whip up your own chocolate in less than 30 minutes. Unlike most commercial chocolates, which are loaded with a lot of refined ingredients and emulsifiers, these are delicious and good for you. You can flavour with different pure extracts and top with any of your favourite superfoods.
Happy Easter Everyone
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups raw cacao butter, chopped into small pieces
1 cup raw cacao powder
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 tsp pure peppermint extract
Pinch of sea salt
Toppings:
You can add toppings of your choice.
Bar 1- dried sliced apple, sliced almonds, coconut flakes and raw sweet cacao nibs.
Bar 2- Reveal Yourself Berry Berry Cacao Granola
Instructions:
Pour a cup of water into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Place a heat-proof bowl on top of the saucepan and reduce to a simmer. Add your cacao butter into the bowl.
Slowly melt the cacao butter.
Once fully melted add in the cacao powder, sea salt, pure maple syrup and pure peppermint extract. Whisk on a low heat until the cacao powder is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Pour into your moulds. Bang the moulds lightly on the bench top to remove any air bubbles.
Do not add the toppings at this point as they will sink. Place your moulds in the freezer and allow to set slightly for about 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes remove from the freezer and sprinkle over your toppings.
Place back in the freezer.
Once fully, set remove from the freezer. I store mine in the fridge in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks.
